Dr. Joanne Fagnou
Veterinary Education and Practice
Dr. Joanne Fagnou is a 2002 graduate of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) in Saskatoon, SK.
In practice, she realized the limitations often encountered with the management of chronic pain using drug therapy. As a result, Dr. Fagnou developed an interest in the fields of physical rehabilitation and acupuncture.
Rehabilitation Education
In 2004, Dr. Fagnou completed extensive training in veterinary rehabilitation at the University of Tennessee. The certification program in canine rehabilitation is a sequence of post-graduate courses, taught jointly by Board-Certified small animal surgeons and licensed Physical Therapists, followed by a supervised clinical experience and a cumulative examination. In 2006, Dr. Fagnou completed the certification process to earn her "CCRP" (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner) designation.
In May 2005, Dr. Fagnou furthered her skills by completing certification examinations in the field of veterinary acupuncture, sanctioned by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS).
Associations
Dr. Fagnou is a member of the Association of Veterinary Acupuncturists of Canada (AVAC) as well as IVAS, is a member of the American Canine Sports Medicine Association, and stays current with the latest advancements in pain management as a member of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management (IVAPM).
